Weiß CODEby Niflheim

@ Niflheim Lab // Free · yours · nothing hidden

AI that asks before it touches anything.

Weiß CODE is a small, free assistant for your own machine. It reads your project, shows you the plan, and waits for a yes before it changes a single file. Nothing is sent anywhere you did not choose.

Free forever · nothing to sign up for · runs on your own machine

From intent to evidence

Every effect is authorized. Every result is attributable.

A task becomes a plan. Before a tool runs, a hook and your policy get a say. After it runs, the evidence is recorded and verified — so a teammate who missed the whole thing can read back exactly what happened.

Weiß CODE pipeline: task, plan, before hook, policy, tool, after hook, evidence, verified

▣ 01. Two helpers

Two helpers. One set of rules.

One is for code. One is for everything else. Neither hides inside the other, so you can pick up either on its own and never touch the second.

The coding one arrived first because it is the smaller promise to keep. The everyday one is bigger, and it is being drawn out in full before a line of it ships.

Weiß CODE■ Free · out now

For code

A hands-on helper for the project you are in right now.

Where
Right in the terminal you already work in
What it does
Reads, plans, edits, runs the tests
Your call
It asks before anything leaves a mark
Afterwards
Every step is written down and easy to re-read

Small, quick, and it works on its own. Nothing else to install.

Weiß■ Next up

For everything else

A helper for the work that is not code.

Where
A quiet app on your desk, and a window when you want one
What it will do
Take a goal, break it down, and keep at it
Your call
Same rule: nothing risky happens without a yes
Today
Fully designed and written up — nothing to download yet

It is later because it is bigger, not because it stalled.

Set it up once

Both helpers are built to read the same settings, so your keys, your choice of AI and your add-ons are entered one time and never again. Weiß CODE does this today; Weiß is being built to match it.

Your work stays where it belongs. Each project keeps its own history in its own .weiss/ folder, so two projects never bleed into each other and deleting one takes its notes with it.

One setup
Set your preferences once and both of them follow it
Your keys stay yours
Kept locked away as handles, never written into a project
Your choice of AI
Swap the brain without relearning the tool
Your add-ons
Connect the tools you use and they both see them

On the way · not here yet

  • → One download that brings both, so you never install twice.
  • → Hand Weiß a job, and it passes the coding part to Weiß CODE for you.

▣ 02. Weiß

Say what you want. Not how to do it.

Most assistants answer and stop. Weiß is being built to keep going: take the outcome you asked for, work out the steps, use the tools it needs, and come back with something finished — while you watch every move.

  1. 01

    Ask

Say what you want, the way you'd say it.

  2. 02

    Look

It gathers what it needs, and nothing more.

  3. 03

    Plan

You see the steps before any of them run.

  4. 04

    Check

Anything risky stops and asks you first.

  5. 05

    Do

It uses the tools it was allowed to use.

  6. 06

    Note

Every step is written down as it happens.

  7. 07

    Done

You get the work, and the receipt.

Why Weiß CODE

More than a model and a shell.

A capable coding agent must understand repository instructions, preserve long-running context, select the right capability, request approval at the correct boundary, coordinate parallel work, and leave an auditable trail.

  • 01

    Provider-neutral

Select models per task without changing the runtime.

  • 02

    Policy-first

Every effect passes through permission evaluation, sandboxing, and audit.

  • 03

    Durable

Sessions, events, operation results, and checkpoints survive restarts.

  • 04

    Composable

Operations, MCP, skills, hooks, and AGENTS.md — all first-class.

  • 05

    Multi-agent

Work as a dependency graph with explicit budgets and concurrency limits.

  • 06

    Observable

Tokens, cost, latency, edits, approvals, and verification stay traceable.

▣ 03. Weiß CODE

The one you can use today.

It opens your project, reads the house rules, and writes out a plan you can actually read. Watch the last line: it wanted to edit a file, and it was told no. That is the whole idea — you set how far it can go, and it never quietly goes further.

▣ 04. Help us build it

Early enough that your opinion changes it.

Everything is out in the open and free to use, copy and change. The rules about what an assistant may and may not do are still being written — which means the argument is still winnable, and we would rather have it with you than after the fact.

Open an issue, fix a typo, or tell us the rule we got wrong. First pull requests are welcome, and small ones are the best kind. Star it and say hello →
